My Tech Review article on Rediff

I have a habit of frquently searching my name on Google to find out how many search results it returns. Yesterday when I did the same the first search result was something which made me feel very happy.

Actually a few days back Rediff had asked its readers to mail them Tech Reviews of gadgets & Gizmos which they use. I thus mailed them all the Reviews which were already published in my Blog. I found that the Tech Review of my LG Sound System was published on Rediff. Check out the same on http://www.rediff.com/getahead/2007/may/08gizmo.htm .

Hello,

I will be honest...I purchased this cordless based on your review and rating....

Got few qstns:
1) The Base phone is on 1st floor, about 10 meters away. Sometimes, I experience hissing sound on my chordless..not sure..if we need to set the channel or does it scan automatically? Also, when I bring cordless closer to base phone, it produces some weird electrical sounds

2) How do I activate the Talking Caller ID system? It was working until I changed time/polyphonic tone?

3) I went thru the product manual but still not able to use Intercom? Not sure if it's reacting to signal

4) Call transfer doesn't work eitherways....

@Santy -

Since you have already read my review, you might know that I reside on the 2nd floor & I receive full coverage upto the terrace in the 8th floor, with both the Antennae fully stretched. As per my knowledge the channel scanning happens automatically, but if things are not working fine you may go about changing the channel manually.

I go agree the cordless handset picks up lot of stray signals causing disturbance & the disturbances get amplified since the cordless handset has a very powerful & amplified speaker built into it. You would definitely find more interference if you keep the Base unit close to a TV, Music System, etc. You would also find considerable amount of interference if you have any device operating on 5 MHz (such has a Wi-Fi Access Point).

With regards to the Talking Caller ID you need the Voice mode to be kept to ON setting for it to work. Also notice whether you are actually receiving the Caller ID (CLIP) information from your Phone operator everytime a call arrives. Many-a-times it happens that the Caller ID information is not received for a lot of reasons.

Call Transfer works using the INT/C button located on both the Base as well as Cordless units. On receiving a call on any of these units, you need to press the INT/C key & you would find that the other unit starts ringing. When the other unit is picked, the call from the previous unit automatically gets transferred.

I have found the User Manual to be exhaustive enough to configure all the settings. Actually you need to be a little bit of a techhie person to deal with Gadgets & Gizmos.

Do revert back if you have any further queries.

Thanks for the tips Mr Lahiri...appreciate it. Indeed after working in IT industry for quiet some time now...was able to figure out most of the things....

1) Hissing sound was due to battery not completely charged....now works fine even placed right next to Wi-Fi router.

2) Caller ID is still a mystery, I will need to give more time and figure out

3) & 4) Had a faulty handset...so was unable to use call transfer or intercom..

All fixed except talking caller id..

Thanks Mr Techie... [:)] You view points are appreciated.

I am sure the blog will be helpful to other new users..

Cheers,

@Anonymous - Right now since I am not able to locate the Cordless User Manual, I can only suggest you to remove the Batteries from your Cordless Unit & reconnect it back after sometime. I also suggest you to select a new pair a new Channel between your Base Unit & Cordless Unit.

I will try locating the Cordless Manual, scant it & upload the PDF for all those people who have lost the Manual.
