BREAKING NEWS: When the News really breaks you :)

BREAKING NEWS: Kumble & Pointing sit across the table for a peaceful discussion

BREAKING NEWS: Petrol prices to rise

BREAKING NEWS: एक आदमी ने ट्रेन के सामने कोशिश किया खुद्खुशी

These are just a few among the list of News items which Indian Television Media (especially News Channels like Aaj Tak & India TV) portray as BREAKING NEWS. I guess these Media companies should be explained by what is meant by Breaking News.

News items like World Trade Centre bombing, Benazir Bhutto's assasination, any major Natural or Human disasters which globally attracts attention should definitely come under the category of Breaking News. Even Local News which affects the country in a drastic manner can come under this category.

I feel with Television Media getting more attention these days, they have found a cheap way of increasing the TRP ratings. Don't you think so ???

Cricket & Internet: Comedy of all sorts

If you go through the recent discussions that are going on the Net regarding the recently concluded Ind-Aus Sydney test match, you will realize that the issue has really turned comical in some discussions. I am posting an extract from Rediff Message Board (© Rediff.com) on the same discussion. Enjoy it !!!!!

PMWE need to demand the following things from ICC

1.BAN BUCKNOR for LIFE. provide free treatment for his EYE

2.BAN BENSON for one yearprovide free consultation with psychiatrist and make him realise that he is the umpire and not the opponent captain

3.BAN Oxenford(3rd umpire)for 6 monthsteach him abt color RED(OUT) and GREEN(Not Out)and provide him home theatre to watch the dismissal clearly.

4.BAN PROCTOR for LIFE (for racial)he hears only what OZ's say and doesnt even bother to hear india's view. he discriminates INDIA.

5.ICC should take responsibilty of this matter and should be dissolved and BCCI should take control of the World Cricket.

6.BAN all the AUS players who played in that match for next 2 matches "

Translate it

I know I might be talking about something which many of you from the Cyber Space already know about - Google's Translation Services. But this post is meant for those few people about this interesting feature from Google.

Many a times you might receive a document which is written in some other language. Rather than carrying a prinout of the same to a professional translator why not use Google's free Translation services. Just visit http://translate.google.com , paste your content under the section "Original Text", select which language translation is required (English to Spanish, Portugese to English, etc.) & click on "Translate". On the right hand side of your screen you will fid the translated text. If you don't know in which language the original content has been written in, you have to use the trial & error method & check if the translated takes makes some sense.

I thought of posting this because sometimes a refresher course in any topic becomes a great help for few people. So enjoy Translating !!!!!

My New Year Resolution - "Get Rid of Wires"

There's something new you would find when you enter my flat from 1st Jan 2008. Guess what, its now a Wi-Fi Zone. After a lot of thinking, I finally invested Rs.1930 on a Wi-Fi Router & believe me it was worth going for the technology.

I just went to my favourite shop at Lamington Road, Cassette World, saw some avaialble Wi-Fi brands available in the market & finally settled for the NetGear WG614v7 Wi-Fi Router. Why NetGear ?..... coz it was cheaper as compared to the others & had also found people on the Net using the same.

Back home I unpacked the Box & connected the cables as per the instructions. Setting up the Wi-FI Router hardly took any time for me. Probably because I am Computer Netwoking & Information Security Professional. I already had a ADSL Broadband connection from MTNL & hence I already had their ADSL Modem. My job was to just integrate my existing Desktop, Laptop, Wi-Fi Router (also a 4 Port Switch) & the ADSL Modem.

Within half an hour I had my Home Network along with the Wi-Fi Network set. Rest entire day was spent on doing R&D on the Wi-Fi Router, a thing which I do with any brand new electronic device entering my premises.

From yesterday I am enjoying this new freedom at home, the freedom to access Internet without the hassles of managing numerous cables......
