iPhone look-alike

Liked the iPhone very much, but don't have that much to shell out from your pockets. Don't worry, you can still afford to go for its look-alike for as little as Rs.6000-7000 or so.

Yes, you guessed it right. Its made in China & is sometimes called the iPhone A380. It has a wonderful & large touchscreen, but this touchscreen is not the same as the original iPhone which has the Multi-Touch feature.

Some of the notifiable features of this Phone are:
  • 3.5 inch wide LCD Screen

  • 1.3 MP Camera

  • MP3 / MP4 Player

  • Fingerprint Recognition

  • Bluetooth

  • WAP/GPRS

  • Dual Band

Other than these the Phone has also some interesting features. As soon as you Plug-in this Phone via USB in WinXP, the Phone prompts you to select the way you want the Phone to be used - Webcam, Mass Storage Device (Pen Drive), COM Port. Except for the COM Port feature, rest of the features are directly Plug & Play & don't prompt you to install any separate drivers.

Near the Camera lens you would find the Apple logo, & many people have fallen prey to this trick, thinking this to be an original Apple product. Remember this is a look-alike & comes loaded with Symbian OS & not Apple's proprietary MAC OS X. The Phone has to surround sound Speakers which really gives realistic sound output.

When my friend first brought this Phone & was ready to sell-off for Rs.9000, even I was surprised. It took me an entire day to research this product on the Net & find out the truth. Whatever might be the case, this Phone is worth going for & to be flanked in public places with the Apple logo flashing behind.

Are you kidding?, the OS on the phone isn't Symbian, Symbian is a powerful Operating System, that chinese phone just has a homemade UI shell with shortcuts to its features.

What has Symbian being a powerful OS got to do with it coming pre-installed with the A380. Symbian S60 3rd Edition is an open source OS. Anyways, since you claim that the OS is not Symbian, could you provide the readers with a link to validate your claim ?

Thanks for writing.

I just saw your reply on my comment while browsing, I have to say that I never expected such a reply. I guess you have absolutely no clue what Symbian is. It's an Operating System that runs on 75% of World's 'Smartphones' and the word is 'Smart'phones and when they say symbian is an open platform it doesn't mean open like linux. Symbian is a propreitery OS.

Can you tell me where is the Symbian Menu key on this phone?
The button with a twirl shaped Symbian logo, you can see it on all Nseries and Eseries Nokia phones and also on newly launched Samsung and LG S60 phones too.

I think the information provided by me would be enough for you differentiate between a symbian and a non symbian phone. If your still confused, check this link..

Hey Hardeep...Its good that you are technical sound. I equally a gadget freak like you. And I must say that you have a very bad on commenting on others.

I am quite aware of what a Symbian OS is & it is also partly proprietary. I've been using Symbian based phones from past 5 years :) With regards to the the menu button I would give you a simple example....have you seen the HTC Touch interface...I guess yes. The Touch interface is just a 3rd party application running on Windows Mobile OS. But that doesn't mean that Windows Mobile OS functionality is disabled. Also have you seen the P1i, I guess...yes. It is also a Symbian based phone...with a UIQ interface & hence doesn't have the TWIRL menu button.

Be logical before you comment. You can easily have a 3rd party application (similar to GDesk) which changes the UI. The 3rd party application can easily replace the MAIN application (which gives you the typical phone UI) in your phone & change the UI.

BTW...right from your first comment I have always said that it is possible that the phone doesn't run Symbian, then provide the readers with some genuine link about the actual OS running in the phone.

Infact I found your 1st comment "Symbian is a powerful Operating System" very very funny. Symbian being a powerful OS has nothing to do with it running on A380. Frankly speaking, I never expect such a comment from a technical person like you.
