Beware of fake PUC certificate providers

Last week my old PUC (Pollution Under Control) certificate was expiring & my 4 wheeler was due for a new PUC check-up. While on my way back from Dadar I thought of getting the PUC done from the PUC provider who sits in a Maruti Omni opposite the Lotus Petrol Pump, Lokhandwala Complex, Mumbai.

The person started with inserting the sensor into the Silencer of my Vehicle. Within hardly 1-2 mins he started issuing my PUC certificate writing the reading as 0.73% for Carbon Monoxide (I feel so). The permissible limit is 0.5%. I recollected that my old PUC certificate showed 0.76%. Since mine was a new vehicle, hardly an year old, I became conscious this time & approached the person to show me the reading. To my surprise I found that his instruments were in a pathetic condition & his Battery which powered the instruments wasn't even working. He was thus issuing me a fake reading to keep himself safe. Since it was a Sunday & very early hours of the morning I couldn't approach a local Police on the way to address the issue. I then had my PUC done from another provider & found that my reading was 0.43% within the prescribed limit.

I thus alert all my readers to beware of such fake PUC certificate providers & report the matter to concerned authorities if you find someone.
